As a Managing Director/Investments with PearlStreet Investment Management, Joe Horlings has spent his career building strategies to help organizations improve their retirement systems, and is the leader of the team's institutional retirement planning practice.  Joe and his team provide fiduciary management and investment advisory services to a wide variety of corporate, tax-exempt, and government-based defined contribution, defined benefit, and non-qualified retirement plans on behalf of plan sponsor clients ranging from small-to-mid sized organizations to Fortune 500 companies.  Representing over $5 billion of retirement plan assets, Joe and his team have extensive experience in creating and monitoring investment menus, benchmarking plan cost and design structures, building and executing RFP projects, negotiating cost structures with plan-related vendors, and delivering on-site employee education and participant-based advice.

Since 1992, Joe has dedicated his career to the financial retirement plan industry, and his leadership has been recognized.  Joe was part of a team that was named to the annual “PLANADVISER Top 100 Retirement Plan Advisers” list (formerly known as Plan Sponsor magazine's “Most Successful Retirement Plan Advisers”) several times over the last decade and was selected as one of 401kWire's “300 Most Influential Advisors in Defined Contribution” in 2009.  Prior to Stifel, he spent nearly 13 years at Oppenheimer & Co. and 11 years at McDonald Investments.  Joe holds the Series 7, Series 63, and Series 65 licenses along with Life, Health, and Variable insurance licenses.  In addition, Joe has earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst® (AIFA®) designation as awarded and administered by the Center for Fiduciary Studies.

Joe earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan.  He is currently a member of The Employers' Association in Grand Rapids, and has served as a Board President for Indian Trails Camp, a West Michigan organization that provides enriched camping experiences to physically challenged children and adults.

Joe and his wife have two daughters.  He and his family are native to Grand Rapids and currently reside in Ada, Michigan.  Joe's hobbies include mountain biking, fishing, reading, and fundraising for the MS Society and Indian Trails Camp.

With more than 24 years' experience as an investment professional, Susan Rose works with the team to provide corporate retirement plans and individual clients with an investment advisory process to assist them in objectively managing their portfolios.  Susan and the team currently provide fiduciary advice to more than 40 plan sponsor clients with more than $3.6 billion in plan assets.

Susan holds the Series 7 (General Securities Representative), Series 63 (Uniform Securities State Agent), and Series 65 (Investment Advisor Representative) licenses along with Life, Health, and Variable insurance licenses in the state of Michigan.  In addition, she has earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst® (AIFA®) designation as awarded and administered by the Center for Fiduciary Studies.

Susan is a member of the Plan Sponsor/401(k) Council of America, the American Society of Pension Professionals, and the Economic Club of Grand Rapids.  She was part of a team that was named to the annual “PLANADVISER Top 100 Retirement Plan Advisers” list (formerly known as Plan Sponsor magazine's “Most Successful Retirement Plan Advisers”) several times over the last decade.

Susan attended Northwestern University in Chicago.  Susan and her husband of 40 years live in Pentwater, Michigan, and have three grown daughters.  Yoga, running, and travel are three of her favorite activities.

As an Associate Vice President/Investments with Stifel, Shawn Kersjes currently advises, along with the PearlStreet team, more than 40 corporations in the management of their defined contribution and defined benefit retirement plans, overseeing more than $3.6 billion in assets.

Shawn has more than 14 years of investment industry experience.  Prior to joining Stifel in 2016, he worked for ten years at Oppenheimer & Co. and four years at New England Securities.  He is a graduate of Hillsdale College with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and holds the Series 7 (General Securities Representative), Series 63 (Uniform Securities State Agent), and Series 65 (Investment Advisor Representative) licenses along with Life, Health, and Variable insurance licenses in the state of Michigan.

Shawn is a member of the Economic Club of Grand Rapids, the Grand Rapids Employers Association, and the Greater Grand Rapids Association of Human Resource Management.  He was part of a team that was named to the annual “PLANADVISER Top 100 Retirement Plan Advisers” list (formerly known as Plan Sponsor magazine's “Most Successful Retirement Plan Advisers”) several times over the last decade.

Shawn and his wife enjoy spending time with their daughter and son.  Shawn's hobbies include traveling, skiing, fishing, and supporting the Hillsdale College and University of Michigan athletic programs.

As a Financial Advisor with PearlStreet Investment Management, Jim Shuster works toward providing financial and investment services to individual clients and plan participants.

Jim's strengths include a focus on investment planning strategies and client service. Prior to joining the team, he was with a national advisory company, where he focused on investment planning for individual clients. Jim holds the following licenses: Series 7 (General Securities Representative), Series 66 (Investment Advisor Representative), and Life, Variable, and Health insurance licenses.

Jim is a graduate of Purdue University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. A native of Grand Rapids, he and his family currently reside in Cascade Township.

As a Client Relationship Manager for PearlStreet Investment Management, Jessica Mariucci-Kurylowicz works with the team to assist corporations in the management of their corporate retirement plans.  In addition to coordinating investment and product analysis, she also assists with plan participant education matters to help participants create and objectively manage their retirement portfolios.

Working in the investment industry since 1990, Jessica holds the Series 7 (General Securities Representative), Series 63 (Uniform Securities State Agent), and Series 65 (Investment Advisor Representative) licenses.  She has also earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation from the Center for Fiduciary Studies.

Jessica is a member of the Financial Planning Association of Michigan.  She served as a past Chair for the Board of Directors of the YWCA West Central Michigan and remains involved with the organization.

Jessica is a graduate of Michigan State University.  She and her husband enjoy sailing and travel.

With more than 24 years of experience in the securities industry, Valeri holds the following licenses: Series 7 (General Securities Representative), Series 63 (Uniform Securities State Agent), and Series 65 (Investment Advisor Representative).  Valeri has also earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation, awarded by the Center for Fiduciary Studies.

Valeri's service has included serving on the Board of Directors of the Fair Housing Center of Greater Grand Rapids, volunteering for Heart of West Michigan United Way School Reading Program (FACTS), serving as Treasurer of the Ottawa Hills Neighborhood Association, working on a Cystic Fibrosis Fundraising Committee, and volunteering for the Michigan Special Olympics.

A 1989 graduate of Franklin College in Indiana, Valeri resides in Grand Rapids with her husband and two children.
